Candice Swanepoel was the lucky model chosen for the
prestigious fashion honour of wearing the $10 million Fantasy Bra at this
Year’s sumptuous Victoria’s Secret show, which featured extravagant outfits and
sets to die for.
At 25, Candice has already featured in Forbe’s top earning
models list, and no wonder with her success as Victoria’s Secret Angel (a job
that has been known to launch many successful modelling careers) on top of
being a catwalk favourite of everyone from Chanel to Jean Paul Gautier to
Stella McCartner and Donna Karan.
But Swanepoel insists that there’s much more to being a
model than just your physical assets. She points out that there are plenty of
pretty girls out there, and to make it in the cut throat fashion industry you
have to have a lot more, and be a ‘smart businesswoman’.
It’s true, many famous supermodels have gone on to launch
brands of products in all kinds of areas, including fragrances, beauty
products, property, books and lingerie.
She laughs off the stereotype of models not being very bright
“WE have grown a thick skin,” she says.
